Default Kseniya Simonova

Kseniya Simonova bringing dirt to life and performing miracles (like making Metallica cool again)

I tend to miss the hype on the internet, but this just floored me. If you've seen this before, you didn't tell me to watch this with sufficient sincerity for me to believe you, and that makes me sad.

According to random a youtube enthusiast, the plot is something along the lines of (apologies for the inability of random internet person/bot to be grammatical, but at least person/bot can explain things for us non-slavic language types):

"okay at the start her and he huband are sitting down at 1:34 its a speaker saying they are being invaded by the germans and they want you to join the army to try to stop them takeing over ukrain, at 4:47 she gets a letter from the ukraine army saying that her husband has died in the war, at 5:22 they go to visit her husbands grave, at the end she is pregnant with a baby ( her husbands baby) then she see's her husbands ghost in the window at 7:59 she shows him his baby what they have got."

Pimp

That was an amazing performance. I swear I've seen something like this before (and not from the email you sent out last week), maybe an older post from the site? This was is definitely a great piece of work. (at the end, it took me a while to place the song that was playing because it was an all acoustic version)

I was stunned at what she is capable of expressing with such simple media. She did other performances, also on Ukraine's Got Talent, which she won. It's nice to know that in some parts of the world, art can still triumph over entertainment, even as capitalism breeds our indifference.

I was aware of sand painting before, but her performances seem a touch more heartfelt, less whimsical. More other sand painters I've seen look like they're finger painting, rather than being a demagogue.

Perhaps it was her I saw before then. You're right; this is an amazing, emotional piece. Very well done and again I love the soundtrack she uses!
